MONTBLANC 146 MEISTERSTÜCK PISTON FOUNTAIN PEN Early 1950s Vintage RARE:
$650.00

For sale is a MontblancMeisterstuck 146 fountain pen with a fine 14c nib from my personal collection. This is the most desirable era for the Meisterstuck line. This pen has a very soft 14ct gold nib with the flat \"ski-slope\" feed made of solid ebonite. The body is made from celluloid and not the \"precious\" resin of later pens. This 146 also features the telescopic piston filling system which is fully working.
The nib has been professionally tuned by John Mottishaw, (one of the world\'s most respected nibmeisters).
The blind cap has clear imprints \"146\" denoting the model and \"F\" denoting the nib size. The pen writes beautifully. It puts down a nice wet line.Condition:
Overall this pen is in excellent used condition and is one of the nicest early 50s 146s I have seen.
There are the typical micro scratches that you would expect on a pen of this age. There is one tiny nick on the body...it\'s less than a millimeter in size though and I was not able to get it to show up in the pictures.
There is some minor brassing on the gold trim near the blind cap as well as the large (center) cap ring and end of the clip (please see pictures).
One of the small cap rings is loose (this is common on these pens due to minor celluloid shrinkage). The ring will not move on it\'s own but if you push on it there is a small amount of play.
The clip is ever so slightly crooked. It is hard to see in the pictures but instead of being 100% perpendicular to the cap rings it is off about 1 degree. Again this is very common to these pens and does not inhibit the clips function in any way.
The ink window is an amber color but does have a nice translucency that will easily let you know the ink level.
The star on the top of the cap looks quite a bit more white in person (sorry for the poor picture). I have compared this one to other 146s and 149s from the era and it\'s one of the whitest stars I have seen ( though not as white as a new 146).
I have never polished or had this pen polished and it presents very well.
I try to be as honest as possible with my listings and as such I have described the pens condition to the best of my ability. If you have any questions please do no hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you for looking!
