The fountain pen uses pistonfilling system. The OM-nib is made of gold, 585 hallmarked. This Montblanc’ capand barrel are of black precious resin. Trim and clip are gold-plated. The penshows signs of very little wear and these are due to its age – end of 60’s tillthe end of 70’s.

After having went through the basic school writingtraining and survived “painful” drill for writing in the same looking, somekind of standard letter format with typewriter like consistency, and got someliberty that left room for idiosyncrasies, I kind of started to like theprocess of writing (hopefully not as a Stockholm’s syndrome product). And especiallywith fountain pens. Since then I have always had some pens for the purpose,mostly of former Soviet origin.

Now, couple of month ago I must got some bug bite, atleast it feels the way, and started to amass some well known brands’ pens inorder to figure out were they really this good as their price suggested. Previouslyowned some Pelikan and Waterman items and a pile of Soviet ones, I turneddirectly to a quest for Monblancs. Somewhere there I met Sheaffer, as well. Iwas looking for vintage pens as these were made in the era where handwritingwas one of the main over distance communicating devices and thought savers. Currently,I may say that I have found some fine, satisfying pieces I am going to keep.The rest will go back to . There is nothing wrong with these. They all haveunique character; every one of them is making their own special feeling when athand, kind of a statement that “hey, it’s ME you’re holding”, and put their own“face” on paper. I am just not the collecting type (at the moment). Therefore,the rest will be given gratefully back to the community to decide upon theirvalue (starting fairly low). I start with Montblancs as that mark is righteously(my consideration) one of the most notorious. These added to my purely functioningtool’ quest another dimension. I may say that Montblanc creates writing deviceswith aesthetic conscience. For everyday art.
