Up for sale with is a truly Incredible Very Heavy, HugeEnglish Sterling Silver Service Platter Tray. The Tray is by far the finest quality and largest Victorian English Sterling Silver examples I have ever sold. The Platter Tray features amazing Repousse and Pierced designs to the raised gallery as well as superbly and deeplyhand etched designs covering almost the entire face, not too mention the fabulous large handles. The Platter Tray isfully Hallmarked for one of the finest of the English SilversmithsJohn Newton Mappin & George Webb (Mappin & Webb). The Tray is also Hallmarked for the Year 1878, Sheffield England and Sterling Silver. The Tray is in excellent all originalcondition with light surface scratches from use but no dents, cracks or repairs and I am sure the light marks could be buffed out to look as good as new. The Traymakes a very impressive display piece and quite practical for modern use measuring 29\" long across the handles by 21\" wide and the serving area measures 21-1/4\" long by 16-1/2\" wide. The Platter is also very heavy with a quality weight of3600 grams. The Tray has also never been monogrammed which is a nice find. The Platter is muchmore beautifuland more impressive in real life and I am sure the new owner will be most pleaed. This would also make a very fine heirloom quality gift for a Wedding or 25th Anniversary and I am sure prove a fine investment for the future.We have shown an amazing William IV English Sterling Silver Tea and Coffee Service on the Platter, it is not included but is from the same incredible Estate collection and is being sold in another of our sales.
