Starting his career as an industrial designer and after working briefly in Chicago Mark left his job to study at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina. Glassblowing fascinated him, and within a few years he had built his own home and studio on the school grounds. Mark experimented with a wide variety of effects, adding different materials to the molten glass to see what kind of different effects he could get in his glass works. Mark has continued to play with established formulas and techniques throughout his career creating and combining new and unusual effects and colors in his glass works.An innovative artist, Mark Peiser continually has pushed the limits of glass to create some of the best art glass being made in the United States. A perfectionist, both in his techniques and aesthetics, he has exquisitely crated a number of highly collected series - from his Innerspace pieces, Paperweight vases, opaque geometric and image vessels to functional \"spaghetti\" bowls.Peiser received a BS degree in design from Illinois Institute of Technology and has received a number of awards throughout his career, including being named honorary fellow by the American Craft Council, grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and Louis Comfort Foundation and Asahi Shinbun Prize, Japan Glass Artcrafts Association.Mark Peiser\'s work can be found in several Art Institutes and Museums around the world, a few being: Art Institute of Chicago (IL), Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum (NY), Corning Museum of Glass (NY), Museum of Arts & Design (NY), Smithsonian Institute San Barbara Museum of Art (CA), La Galerie Internationale du Verre (France), Glasmuseum (Denmark), Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art (Japan) and more.Style: EgyptianPattern: King Tut designCirca: 1975Size: 2-1/2\" tall x 1\" wide at the top/2-1/2\" wide at the widest pointCondition: The cabinet vase is in beautiful condition with no cracks, however there is a tiny flea nip on the very bottom of the ream bellow the letter K in Mark\'s signature (please enlarge picture with Mark\'s signature to see nip).Special Effect: Their is a purple oil sheen appearance on this cabinet vase. The sheen changes with different light or when the light direction is changed.
