Starting his career as an industrial designer and after working briefly in Chicago Mark left his job to study at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina. Glassblowing fascinated him, and within a few years he had built his own home and studio on the school grounds. Mark experimented with a wide variety of effects, adding different materials to the molten glass to see what kind of different effects he could get in his glass works. Mark has continued to play with established formulas and techniques throughout his career creating and combining new and unusual effects and colors in his glass works.An innovative artist, Mark Peiser continually has pushed the limits of glass to create some of the best art glass being made in the United States. The sheen changes with different light or when the light direction is changed.
