Before you start reading I want to list a few disclaimers. 1) I am shipping this to US Only, and Paypal is the only accepted form of payment. I will not respond to messages asking for trades or anything like that.
2) Please check all photos, read full description, and ask any questions prior to offerding on this book. This is being sold in as is condition. I will ship Priority mail, packaged securely and insured with signature confirmation at my cost.
3) I do not normally sell antique books, so I may be missing key elements, or keywords, or other items throughout this listing since I am not 100% sure on what to look out for. I am doing my best to describe these books in detail. What you are offerding on is Masonic History and Digest Volumes 1 and 2 written by J.W.S. Mitchell. The date on the book shows 1858. Most of my research on this book shows that this was the 1st printing year for this book. I do not know if that could make this a 1st edition or not, but at least 1st printing year. This is from a website \"phoenixmasonry\" and it shows up when you google \"Masonic Digest 1858\". If you do not know much about this book I highly encourage you to do research on your own. I found these at a local flea market in Belleville, IL. Condition:Volume 1- Cover and first few pages are completely detached from binding. The portrait of the author bleeds onto a few pages. there is some pencil writing on the front and back pages (just a few words then 1877 in the front) and then a $30 pencil price on the back. This is not what I paid for these, but I figured I would keep it full in tact. I believe that all pages are accounted for in this copy. There is a preface and 720 pages. This book is shown in photos 4, 5, and 6. Volume 2- All is in tact, however, it seems very loose from the binding when you open the book. The back of the book is hanging on loosely. If a preface exists, I believe it is missing from this volume. If it doesn\'t, I still believe a few pages are missing in the very front. The book starts on page 1 and goes through 719 with a chart on the back page (720). This book is shown in photos 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Overall these seem to be rare, older, popular, pre-civil war volumes of a sought after book set. I spent hours looking for similar 1858 copies and came up empty which is why I am starting the pricing where I am starting it at. I think the pricing is fair considering the age and condition. Even though they are very poor condition, these books are rare enough that they belong in a museum or a library that can truly appreciate and keep these books in the same condition.
