Levi Lincoln (1782-1868) Governor of Massachusetts From 1825 to 1834
and then Congressman from 1834 TO 1841.
Levi\'s father was also a congressman along with being the 7th Lt. Governor
of Massachusetts and being Thomas Jefferson\'s Attorney General. He was likely an
abolitionist as he backed Quock Walker a former slave seeking confirmation of his
freedom under the new constitution in 1783. This letter is written and signed by
Governor Lincoln to R.T Paine in 1834 and reads to wit:
Dear Sir
I beg you to accept my utmost thanks for the splendid volume of the American
Almanac one of the most useful publications of the day and which I ______more
highly appreciate as a testimonial of your kind recollection and regard.
