A Fantastic & nowEXTREMELYRARE exampleofArt Deco sculptureby the
famousFrenchsculpture\"Fayral\" who worked for & had his ownsculptures
cast by,Max LeVerrier..For its age the sculpture is in remarkably condition ! And I would say about 1920 .
The young girl is leaping for joy as would be the case on winning an Olympic
race, and hencethe sculpture gaveher the name of \"Olympie\"!
The loin cloth or tunic that is about her does not hide hermodesty much but having
won she hasa that wonderfullsenseof satisfactionwhich shows in her facial
expression and stance .There is Greek or Roman air about her pose, the trim curves of her slender
body is something to behold.
Mediumgreen patina is still in wonderful condition except for
three very small scratches on the loin cloth & some very slight rubbing
hear & there but difficult to see.She is on a large solid granite plinth that is off beige to gold in colour
whichhas multi steps, there are two very small chips on each corner in
the front but that all.
The statue is made of spelterin thelost wax process.
Signedon the base of the statue \"Fayral\"Circa 1920 + -. cast in the
Max Le Verrier foundry Paris.
You will note that the foundry stamp is of bronze & let into the sculpture
base just under the left foot, this means that it it is one of the very early
ones as the bronze stamp was only done for a short time.
The bottom of the base now has been covered with a beize cloth as not
to scratch wood work, etc.
