to a Pennsylvania veteran of the Battle of Chickamauga from a close friend at Christmas, 1922.

The late historian Brian Pohanka told me once that this was one of hisfavorite Civil War narratives by a soldier.
I just re-read this wonderful book. The guy describes every Union officer in great detail.....
