This is a fully functioning, ornate crossbow, made in the old ways with wood and bamboo. The string, however, is synthetic for safety and it does actually fire a bolt (arrow for crossbow). Using this crossbow to hunt or target practice is not recommended, as it is an ornate functioning replica. Please understand, it can still punch a hole in the wall, so handle with care. Ideally, this crossbow would be a novelty item which fits in with medieval Renaissance festivals and attractions. The string comes pre-loaded and the layered bamboo limb is fixed to a stationary wooden frame. Please use responsibly. Handmade and avoid firing the crossbow without loading a bolt (do not dry fire).
