Meiji Period Japanese Cloisonne Vases Armorial Shields With Dragons & Phoenix Description

A superb matching pair of Oriental / Japanese cloisonne vases, 19th c Meiji period, the overall colour is blue, ranging from a deep cobalt on the lower half, with a band of blue/white on the upper half, two areas of note, one vase has an inclusion the size of a pin head to the black shields border (caused by an air pocket during firing) the other vase has a tiny partial loss ( hasn\'t reached the base metal and the body isn\'t distorted) this to a brown tedral in the white border, both have crazing to the internal yellow and one a h\'line to the glaze on the underside of the base. Given all the aforementioned these are two very nice, and very rare vases that display beautifully.Size are 180 mm, 7\" tall.
