TITLE : PINE TREE & PEACOCK
Signature (Seal) : WATANABE AKIRA (渡辺晨畝) also known as WATANABE SHINPO (辺渡晨畝) (1867-1938) was a Japanese painter of the late Meiji to the early Showa periods. He was born in Fukushima prefecture. His real name is Ando Noboru. He was the pupil of Araki Kanpo (1831-1915) and specialized in flower-and-bird painting, especially peacocks. He regularly interacted with Chinese painters before the war, and they left their mark on his work.
