Circa 1884 - 1885 handbill which reads, \"TO THE PEOPLE of MENDOTA. There seems to be a general impression that the circular issued by E. S. BROWNE this afternoon, was printed at this office, and in order to defend ourselves even against a breath of suspicion that we could PROSTITUTE our establishment to this extent, we declare publicly that we HAVE NOT printed said circular, nor would we have printed it, if requested to do so. WE ABHOR THE SENTIMENT it contains, and declare that neither the Cleveland & Hendricks\' club nor the Mendota Democracy at large had anything to do with it, We are Democrats, not Revolutionists NOR REBELS. SEAMAN & KIESELBACH, Publishers of Reporter. L.S. Seaman and Otto Kieselbach formed a partnership both in law and the publishing business in 1883. E.S. Browne, who later became mayor, Seaman, and Kieselbach were all prominent citizens of Mendota.
