Meriden Victorian silver quadruple plate, 36 ounce footed teapot, with an ornate floral pattern, repousse & chassed, c.1896 or before. There is a stamped mold nbr, \"1989\" on the base. The Meriden Britannia Co. (Meriden CT) stopped stamping their ware \"Quadruple\"(in a circle) plate in 1896 (ref, Rainwater\'s book, 3rd edition, \"Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers,\" pub. 1986, p124, bottom of second column. This teapot would probable date in the 1880\'s to early 1890\'s. The decorative artwork is well executed and an excellent example of Meriden\'s work. The teapot is about 11\" long, 4.75\" wide, and 7\" tall. It is in great condition with no dents or repairs, and polishes well. It pours well too. Have had a few pots of green and oolong tea out of it over the last 20 years.
