CONDITION: Good to very good condition first edition hardcover from a smoke-free and pet-free home. There is minor shelf wear on the edges and corners. DESCRIPTION: Merry Christmas to You is a collection of American and international Christmas stories selected by Wilhelmina Harper and illustrated by Wilfred Jones. E. P. The stories were selected to give pleasure to children, and to instill in them something of the spirit of Christmas in the hope that it may remain with them always. There are a total of twenty-five stories, with about half being marked as “especially suited to the enjoyment of younger children.” All full-page drawings are captioned, while other smaller drawings appear within some of the stories. Besides American stories, there are stories from Sweden, France, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Poland and England, and many are being published for the first time in an anthology. The Acknowledgments section gives some background about each story and the last two pages in the book contain a Christmas book list for boys and girls.
