Xbox One Replacement Console Preparing For Refurbishing

This is a BARE console only! NO cables! NO games! NO accessories! Any pictures of the refurbishing process are stock photos, but any pictures in listing gallery are of the actual item you will receive.

This is the BEST Xbox One that money can buy! This system is fully reconditioned inside and out, and backed by a six month warranty. Every part of the system has been removed, individually inspected, cleaned, adjusted, repaired/replaced as needed, then carefully reassembled. Functionally, this system will perform like the day it was first built. If you buy a used Xbox One anywhere else, you\'re throwing money away. The Xbox One may not be very old, but the consoles available second hand have already been used and abused, and possibly the victims of amateur repairs. The sellers just aren\'t telling you that they refurbished the system using a random YouTube video as a guide. If you buy a used Xbox One, buy it from someone that not only tells you what they did to the system, but from someone that is qualified to repair it, too.

The first step in the restoration process is to tear the system down to prepare for a deep cleaning. The motherboard is removed, and every possible part is separated to prepare for a blast of various cleaning products.

Cleaning the Case

Used game consoles can get pretty funky after years of neglect and abuse. Pet hair, smoke residue, and cheeto stains can permeate in to every little crevice. Since this console is completely disassembled, every possible remnant of the previous owner can be scrubbed off, leaving an unscented and spotless system.

All of the case parts are run through a repurposed dishwasher, with settings and soaps carefully tested to clean completely without any melting, distortion, or discoloration. The motherboard is brushed and wiped down until no dust remains. The cooling fan is scrubbed spotless. No dust means more air flow, more air flow means less heat, and less heat means a more reliable system. Heat is what usually kills these systems, but this one will run as cool as possible.

Rework Setup

The next step is the most crucial. Any consoles requiring BGA rework are prepped and repaired using the proper equipment and tools. Consoles that are reworked from other sellers are repaired using inaccurate tools like heat guns and pancake griddles (not a joke!). Even in the rare case that a technician has the proper equipment, they still likely won\'t know what they\'re doing! Ask other sellers to see their credentials, and proof that they own an actual rework station. I provide both! I have a degree in computer engineering, and an ACHI rework machine suitable for the job, which I\'ve shown together with my user name. I\'ve blurred my last name for privacy, but I will be happy to provide the unblurred copy after purchase if desired.

The appropriate chips are reflowed (heated to rejoin the solder that is already in place) or reballed (removing the chip, replacing the solder, and putting the chip back in place) as needed. If there is evidence of a previous reflow from some other back alley, unqualified technician, or if a reflow fails, the chips will then be reballed. Repeat offenders are tossed in the trash! The rest of the motherboard is carefully inspected, and any failed or damaged components are replaced. Any leftover residue from the rework process is cleaned off.

Prepping the Heatsinks

The heatsinks and processor are then cleaned to a bright shine, and a high quality thermal compound (Arctic Silver 5) is applied. The processor heatsink is re-seated using the original x-clamp. Despite what the internet says, the x-clamp is not a problem. The problem is cracked solder joints underneath the chip, and the hack job instructions to replace the clamps do so only to apply extra pressure as a temporary solution, without addressing the underlying problem. Since I will have fixed the real problem, there is no need to apply additional pressure to the chips.

Servicing the Drive

Next, the disc drive is serviced completely. Any built up dirt and grime is wiped out. The rubber belt is tested and replaced to make sure discs will insert and eject perfectly. The laser is cleaned and adjusted to ensure game discs read perfectly the first time every time. The laser rails and worm motor gear have their dirty, old grease wiped off and replaced with fresh, high quality lithium grease. All of the moving parts will glide smoothly, meaning a quieter, more reliable disc drive.

Polishing the Case

The system is then reassembled, with every part going back in its correct location. There will be no missing screws, or misaligned case parts. The case halves are snapped back together, and any evidence of previous technicians damaging the clips on the sides of the system is carefully sanded down to minimize the appearance. Finally, a system of plastic polish designed to restore and protect plastic is applied carefully. It removes small scratches and blemishes, restores the original shine of the system, and helps to preserve it as long as possible.

Testing the Console

Now, it\'s game time! I use this console as my personal system for the night. I hop on Xbox Live, making sure to update the system completely, and to check to make sure it\'s not banned. Then, I put AT LEAST an hour of game time on the system to make sure everything goes as planned. When the system arrives at your door, it will be FULLY tested, and ready to play!

Despite the careful work done to this console, it is still a failure prone electronic device with a lot of complex parts. There\'s simply no telling what can go wrong. That\'s why a SIX MONTH warranty is included! If anything (except water damage and other obvious misuse) goes wrong in that time, just send it back in for a repair, replacement, or refund! Shipping costs will not be reimbursed.

FINAL NOTES: Cosmetically, everything possible is done to restore the original appearance of the console. However, it is still a used system. Please do not expect to receive a museum quality system in mint cosmetic condition. There will be some scratches and scuffs. These consoles are intended for a gamer who will be playing the system, and needs it to function perfectly. They are not meant to be framed and put on display. If you\'re looking for collector grade cosmetic condition, please look elsewhere.
