Military surplus Signal Corps BC-652-A WWII era radio receiver
Please fully read both the \"Condition & Functionality\" & \"Terms, conditions & shipping\" sections below, before offerding!Offered here is a Signal Corps BC-652-A surplus military radio receiver. This model was made by General Electric Co., around, was part of the SCR-506 two-part radio set, which also included the BC-653-A transmitter unit (NOT INCLUDED HERE). My research shows that this model was made around the WWII era - as far as 1941, and was used mainly in half tracks & jeeps. The only time stamp I found on this unit, which indicates any kind of data, it on the top of the front panel. It has \"Jul 1958\" stamped in red, butI belive this is a re-certification stamp, rather then a manufacturing date. This receiverhas an AM band, and two shortwave bands - Band 1 ranges from 2 to 3.5 MHz, and band 2 ranges from 3.5 to 6 MHz. It also has an internal 120Volt power supply - the previous owner seems to have Jerry-rigged the pins on the, and attached a standard 2-prong power cable. Once again, Before offerding, PLEASE read the entire \"Condition & Functionality\" section below, to fully understand what you\'ll be purchasing, and the condition it\'s in. All serial numbers & identifying marks are logged to prevent fraudulent returns.Condition & FunctionalityThe radio is in good-to-very good physical condition, the casing is complete and without dings, however, as you can see in the pictures, the paint is pealing. The front panel is in great shape as well, the only flaw I found is a broken handle/spinner on the Bakelite tuning dial. Otherwise, all the other controls seem to be in great shape. The inner working of the radio are in beautiful shape, there is no sign of corrosion, and the paint on all the componentsis fully intact. Functionality wise, as I mentioned above, this unit has a built-in 120Volt power supply, however, it\'s designed to receive power through special pins in the back of the unit. This radio sat in a special tray on the vehicle, which was designed for rapid removal & replacement of the radio, and this tray also provided power for the unit. The previous owner has Jerry-rigged a standard 2-prong power cord to two of the pins on the back, and I was able to power the radio. The radio does power up, and the backlight on the tuning dial comes on, and I was able to get a few faint squeaks & beeps while turning the tuning dial. I\'m assuming that I got nothing because I don\'t have an antenna connected, but I can\'t be sure if that\'s the only reason why I wasn\'t able to pick up anything. In any case, please note that this radio is being offered here AS IS, all sales are final, with no return or exchange. It\'s nearly 80 years old, and is being offer as such.
