Mills Cast Iron Electric Shock Machine Coin Op Penny Arcade Trade Stimulator:
Please view all of the photos of this machine and watch the video at the bottom of this listing. It’s SHOCKING!
Offering for sale this vintage CAST IRONELECTRICITY IS LIFE SHOCK MACHINE arcade game trade stimulator made by the Mills Novelty Company, Chicago Illinois. Based on company literature and other research I would date this machine circa 1908-1918.
The machine is a fine example of an early cast iron Firefly shocker. What is so great about this particular specimen is that it retains the original inner workings and it operates perfectly! Many of these early shockers have heavy damage from battery corrosion. This example has the original interior parts and it works great. Gives a smooth, steady current that tingles in your hands as you grab the handles.
Note that this is the highly desirable Mills shocker with the CAST IRON face plate. Mills went to stamped steel in about 1920 - and all of their subsequent machines were fabricated from steel. Finding a working EARLY shocker like this is a treat.
Mills Novelty shockers were very popular starting in the early 1900s, as electricity was not as common (many homes in rural areas did not yet have electricity) – and there was belief that electricity even had therapeutic effects (hence the “Electricity is Life” marketing).
The machine is 100% complete and working. There is an newer high power lantern battery installed. The top cast marquee is metal - it is a newer copy of the original and presents well.
The old key that operates the old original lock is also included.
The machine measurements are 12 X 9 X 7 inches.
I will box and ship this via Priority Mail shipping to avoid risk of damage. US Buyers to pay $55. – international buyers please inquire.
