Some more information about this Montblanc 146...

Made in Germany 1954-55. Last of the Ski Slope feed, This beautiful penis in fabulous condition for its age. Its telescopic metal piston works perfect. Fills to the MAX every time without issue. Rare to find such perfect working pistons. New Cork has just been fitted. Works as when New.This is a MASTERPIECE example made for Export to USA and UK etc.etc.. Hamburg was also ahuge military base for USA and UK at the time and so many of these Montblanc were picked up by officers and returning servicemen etc.By 1958 Montblanc stopped making Masterpiece centralrings and stamped them just Meisterstuck (German for Masterpiece) thereafter to this current day. So these 1950 to 58 examples are rare.

The pen itself is made of Jet Black High Gloss Celluloid. It has no Cracks, Splits, Dents, Bite Marks or Deep Scratches etc.. VERY rare to find so clean. Just the normal careful light desk wear expected of this age. It has not been polished or mishandled. The Barrel (body) on these 50s pens is actually an Orange/Yellow Amber see through Celluloid Tube that is then thinly dipped in Black Celluloidto create outer Blacklayer and the lines of the Ink Window. Overtime of use and polishing this outer black layer can wear away making patchy orange areas. This example has ALL its black still. This is how they left the factory.Superb example. The Clip and Rings are Yellow Gold Plated and also superb with no brassing or plate loss. The Cap top White Star logo is the highly sought after off white Ivory colour unique to late 40s and 50s.

Of course the real star of the show with this pen has to be that sublime Flat Tip Chamfered edge 14C B Cursive Italic Style Nib. MASTERPIECE indeed. Right off the bat it must be said Montblanc simply do not make nibs of this quality and line width versatility anymore. Not since late 1950s. This nib can do everything. ALL line width variations. Due to its uniquely sculpted Iridium tips it writes with a Fine to Extra Fine line side stroke and a Broad line down stroke at normal pressure but equally if you adjust your wrist slightly it can write on its edge Fine then adjust wrist angle a little more it writes Medium line.ALL at normal pressure. It does all of this smooth as silk. Zero paper scratch. ULTRA user friendly. If that were not enoughthis chap also has SENSATIONAL flexibility that allows for even more line width variation on the down stroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. Can flex all the way past Triple Broad. Wow. Not only that it does it ALL without EVER skipping a beat. No top upnib dips needed for this chap. ALL ink flow from comes from within Barrel on writing sample.Simply sensational Ink flow qualities from the Flat Ski Slope Lined feed.Off the Charts good. Perfect working example of a beautiful pen. Nib and Feed are Perfect with ZERO damage or even sign of use. Nib is as clean as they come.Grade A++++++++++++For the writing Connoisseur.

Comes ready to write just add your favourite colour bottled ink... Perfect as a gift or treat yourself to a wonderful collectible fountain pen that can be used and enjoyed daily...
