A fascinating account of a chauffeur driven journey through Morocco 90 years ago. At the time there was still an active slave market in Marrakesh and the author describes it vividly without a hint of disapproval. \"The European observer must beware lest he read into this something that neither buyer nor seller would recognise. Novelty may create an emotion that facts and custom cannot justify.\"
There is also a description of a very active Jewish quarter described from the point-of-view of a gentile Englishman of his day.
CONDITION: Cover lightly rubbed. Endpapers toned. Contents complete and very good. Binding tight and square. An unusually good copy of a scarce volume.
