There is no hallmark however we have acid tested the ring and in our opinion it is 18 carat gold.DIMENSIONS:
The width of the ring is 4.7mm Approx.The depth of the ring is 2.2mm Approx.WEIGHT:The weight of the ring is 4.5 grams Approx.RING SIZE:UK:L USA:5 1/2
Antique George III mourning ring.This is a beautifulring set in 18 carat gold.The ring has a wonderful line design creating a matte type finish to it.The head of the ring opens revealing a small compartment that would have held a loved ones hair.There is an inscription to the inside of the ring that reads:Mary Lewthwaite Obt. 29th, Aug, 1807, AE 63.Willm Lewthwaite \'Esq\'. Obt. 30th, Oct, 1809, AE 71.This is a very rare example of a mourning ring of this style and in such excellent condition.
The ring is a size L (5 1/2 USA) and is in excellent condition.There is no hallmark however we have acid tested the ring and in our opinion it is 18 carat gold.A lovely item.
