This beautiful icon comes from the Mt. Athos Greek Monastery and depicts Madonna holding the Christ child.
Crafted at the Orthodox theocracy of Mt. Athos, the icon ishand paintedwith egg temperaon woodand 23.5K gold leaf ~followingthe traditional Cretan processwhich has proved to be durable through the ages.
The icon measures12.5\" long x 9.25\" wide x 1\" thick, weighs 2 lbs., 8 oz. andwas completed on 4/5/1989. The back is dated and signed by a Greek iconographer from the monastery with many years of experience.Light wear and chipping in spots.
