Music lyre bookends bronze clad by Galvano Bronze, original paint, 1922:
$110.00

Rarely seen bookends depicting the figure of a Greek or Roman man playing a lyre - the classical image of Music. Which happens to be the original title for this design.
Bronze clad by P. Mori and Son, trading as Galvano Bronze. Each piece is marked PM and 1922 on the back, along with the name of the artist P(aul) Beneduce. I have included a photo of this set from a copy of an original P. Mori / Galvano Bronze catalogue.
Condition is pretty good but each piece does have a break in cladding. On one, the man has a crackedneck; on the other, the lyre has a cracked arm. I have provided pictures of both. I will suggest that both flaws are well-hidden from viewwhen the pieces are deployed as intended (see 2nd to last pic). Otherwise, each piece is in good shape. Paint is original. Felts on bottoms probably are not.
6½ inches tall; 3½ inches wide; 3 inches deep. Weighing 2¾ pounds EACH PIECE.
Perfect gift for the toga-wearer or stringed-instrument tuner in your family.
US shipping only. Shipping via USPS. I pack with care.
