Navajo Fred Harvey Green Turquoise Silver Ring 3.9 Gms Vintage Tucson Estate:
$75

From a Tucson estate some years ago and a remembrance of Northern Arizona in the long ago (or perhaps discovered in one of the fabled downtown curio shops right here in the Old Pueblo) is this obviously vintage Navajo silver ring - this one with a green oval turquoise set and construction features indicative of its making once upon a time. Silver drops flanking the stone and winged insect stamp work on the shank add measurably to the visual charisma and distinctly vintage look. This absolutely fits within the framework of so called Fred Harvey style ornaments crafted for Indian Detour visitors (though certainly with some traditional tribal aesthetic left in). Be aware you will likely not find too many of these at whatever trading post you visit today. Weight is good for the form at about 3.9 grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine with an aura of time to the surfaces as seen in the pics. The turquoise shows good patination from its years of ornamental service - it has achieved "the look". The pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Ring size is about 6 1/4 on my jeweler's ring mandrel (the lower edge of the shank reaches that line on the mandrel). About 23/32 in. vertical at the front - think 3/4 in.. The oval turquoise is about 17.5x8.5mm - good for wearing everyday, and yes it will be noticed. If you prefer earlier 20th Century Southwestern tribal referenced silver adornment as a road less travelled, or simply wish a single immediate improvement to the ambiance of each day, this will have great meaning for you.
