Designer: Tinker Hatfield
The design of the shoes was inspired by a World War II Mustang fighter plane. The midsole creatively incorporated a shark teeth like design, similar to those painted on World War II fighter planes, which were used to intimidate their enemies.
The shoes featured an asymmetrical collar and the cut of the shoes were higher than the previous two models. The Air Jordan 5 included the visible air unit as well as the mesh introduced in the Air Jordan 4. One feature that distinguished these shoes from previous models was the added translucent rubber outsole that was visible on the side panel and heel.
These were the first Air Jordan shoes to release during the amazing ride of the Chicago Bulls during the 1990\'s
