This is a very nice example of a European Hunting Short Sword Dagger Cuttoe which dates from the early to mid 18th Century. It is mounted with a slightly curved blade that measures 12 1/4 inches in length which remains in lovely condition with just some light surface staining nevertheless continues to clearly wear all of the beautiful etching that is still nicely present on either side. It wears an elegantly detailed gilded brass clamshell guard that remains nice and tight in its condition. The fabulous green stained carved horn hilt has survived in very healthy condition as well.
