We areoffering a copy of THE NORTHWEST BOUNDARY OF TEXAS, by Marcus Baker andpublished in 1902 by the U.S. Geological Survey. 50 pages with 5 figures +index. Our copy was at one time removed from a bound volume of U.S.G.S.reports. Therefore it does not have front or rear covers, but it isstillallbound together. The main attraction of this item is the very large fold-outmap. This is a scarce map issued by the United States General Printing Officedetailing the northwest boundary of Texas. The complete map title is \"Mapof the United States and Texas Boundary Line and Adjacent Territory Determinedand Surveyed in 1857-8-9-60.\" This map, by John H. Clark, is based upon the original 1857 -1860 surveys, but was notpublished because of the outbreak of the Civil War. The map was mislaid, butthen 41 years later it was located in the U.S. General Land Office and thenpublished in this U.S.G.S. report for the first time. Although this mapprimarily covers Texas, it also shows parts ofKansas,New Mexico,Colorado, and Oklahoma. The map also showsexplorer’s routes, locationof forts in the 1850s, Indian trails, rivers and other topographical features-- even someSpanish encampments. American Indian settlements, primarilyof theCherokee,Seminole and Chickasaw Indians are designated. Themap even shows the Santa Fe Trail and Albuquerque Trail. The map measures 27inches by 40 inches. It is still folded and attached to the report and appearsto never have been opened. It is in near fine condition save for one 2\"tear of which about 3/4\" goes into a small box in the lower right cornerthat lists longitude and latitude of some rivers on the map. The booklet has auniversity library stamp on the title page, there are a few small chips to thetitle page at edges, but is otherwise in very good condition. [NOTE: Contact usif you would like close-ups of any part of this map]
