An original design and hand woven, this Nantucket lightship basket handbagmeasures 9.5\" by 7.5\" and 7.5\" to the top of the scrimshaw plaque.

Theover-sized basket has aunique feature: double cherry handles.

The basket\'s lid has been domed with the lid exactly matching the bottom to make a perfect closure.

The top and bottom boards are both cherry and the faux ivory scrimshaw plaque has a basket with hydrangeas.

All knobs and domesare bone, closure peg is made from animal ivory (tusk/dentin).

The basket is developing a rich nutty patina from the many coats of shellac coating the weaving.

Inside the bottom board has been signed: Carol Aittaniemi Darling 2009.

The handbag is in pristine condition. It lives in a glass front, enclosed case away from bright sunlight.
