The bugle is the French pattern 1845 clarion and is missing the mouthpiece as seen. We picked it up at an estate sale as a decorator item, but in examining it now feel that it is a 19th century piece. It is certainly unique!
It shows use and aging but is generally in good overall condition.
The body of the bugle has two sections of rawhide wrapped around it.
These are sewn with sinew.
There are decorations of metal cones, beads and feathers hanging from the lower piece. The forward string of beads is missing with only the sinew remaining.
Shows great age and lots of \"character.\" Tough to find a conversation piece as interesting as this one is!
