The work of Floyd and LloydBecenti can be found in the world famous Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona, andFloyd\'s emotionally chargedsterling silver pot started and completed on September 11, 2001 has a permanent home nowin the Smithsonian. So you know their work isabsolutely first rate. Their father, Floyd, Sr. taught both boys and their sister at a young age and, over the years, their work has become virtually interchangeable althoughtheiroriginal or signature designs typically have a few differences.SometimesFloyd and Lloydwork apart, and sometimes they work together. Sometimes one or both of them doesn\'t work at all.

Currently Lloyd is working part time, but it\'s doubtful that Floyd is for the usual reason.

This is one oftheirpopularanimal themedbuckle designs in the shape of a galloping horse with a playful dapple horse in the story panel with a towering Monument Valley rock formation in the background. Monument Valley is located on the Navajo reservation in northern Arizona and southern Utah.No twoBecenti buckles are ever exactly alike which makes each buckle a truly unique piece that reflectsthe Becentis\'distinctive overlay style. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver and allows the artist to create extraordinary detail when done well. One layer forms the foundation of the buckle while the second layer is used to design the overlay elements such as theborder around the buckle,the horse, the rock formation, the sun, and desertcactus in the story panel. Notice that the story panel itself is horse-shaped.These design elements are then bonded onto the thicker bottom layer whichLloyd oxidized and acid-etched in order to produce the contrasting, textureddarker background color which will further darken with age as it acquires a natural patina. The borders that frame the scene are also overlay work.

The buckle isslightlydomed for additional durability and will accommodate a belt up to 1¼\" in width. It measures3 and 7/16ths\" wide and2 and 5/16ths\" tall.

And now a word or two about the Becenti family hallmark.In the past, both Becenti brothers usually (but not always) used more or less the same hallmark (typical stamped Becenti hallmark: B-¢-t) I\'ve seen five different Floyd Becenti hallmarks and six Lloyd Becenti hallmarks -- especially in tbe last year and a half. So it\'s certainly easy to see why the entire Becenti hallmark issue is confusing :-). The issue may become even more confusing in the future.Lloyd says Floyd ran off with the B-¢-t stampin thefall of 2004, and Floyd now says it\'s now been permanently lost. So forthe foreseeable futureLloyd is using a variety of hallmarks -- this is one reads LLBcT in tiny, tiny letters and is stamped sterling.
