The closing of the Sleeping Beauty mine has caused all domestic turquoise to dramatically increase in price because mine owners know traders and independent artists have no choice but to pay their prices. Lower silver prices in the last year have been more than offset by significantly higher priced domestic turquoise making these earrings a really super buy.
They feature two elongated oval 7/8ths\" by5/16ths\" cabochon (domed) green (with just a slight blue hue in places) stones with golden yellow vein and brown matrix mounted in shadowbox 1 and 9/16ths\" by 9/16ths\" sterling silver bezels with a light vintage style finish. The artist added sterling silver overlaid raindrop beads and twisted rope sterling overlays around the stones. Including the oval three dimensional repoussés and the sterlingsilver French wires, their total length is 2 and 3/16ths.\"
The Kingman mines in western Arizona inside and nearby the Kingman copper mining district produce a very wide range of turquoise colors including blues, blue greens, and greens and matrix colors and patterns.
Running Bear Navajo bench artists created these earrings, and one of Running Bear\'s engraved hallmarks and sterling marks are on the back on both solid sterling silver bezels.
