Here is a fine looking CLASSIC NAVAJO DOUBLE SIDED (2 SIDES / FACES) HORSE SADDLE BLANKET from about 1935 and most likely from the Ganado Region of the Reservation (Ganado Crosses on one side). It is made from very beautiful looking Wools, all colors are form naturally hand spun and carded wools (beige, dark brown, grey and white). As you can see from the pictures it is beige with stripes/ bands on one side and grey with Ganado Crosses on the other side. It is very thick and soft providing ample padding for the rider. This textile is hand woven on a primitive upright loom, and is a rare and uncommon weaving - 2 sided rugs do not surface very often on and are difficult to find among traders.
The size of this rug is approximately 41\" X 20\", with a hand spun Wool Warp of 6, and a Wool Weft of 20 (a soft yet very strong and thick weave), an expertly and beautifully constructed piece!CONDITION: Excellent for age - Please see pics. This weaving is in Fine Condition with NO Holes, NO brittle/rotten wool, NO Fraying, No Fading, and NO Stains, and NO Bleeding (no dyes). There is one spot on the beige side, which you can see in pics where I am pointing, that has surface/weft only bug nibbles. This weaving is ready to display as is and nothing detracts from the presentation of this rare find. The Side Selvage Cords are 100% intact, a twist of two, 2-ply white wool yarns, with no weft wool loss to edges. The End Selvage Cords are 100% intact - a braid of three, 1-ply brown wool yarns. The corners are in good condition, with minor wear to the corner ties (see pics).

BOTH SIDES photographed in entirety! This rug will look great as a wall hanger or smaller floor/chair rug and will brighten up any home!
