Here is an old and unique Navajo GALLUP THROW RUG from the GANADO REGION of the NAVAJO RESERVATION, an excellent display of grey, red, black and white. It is in Excellent Condition for age (c1950) with a beautiful and stimulating traditional wearing blanket design. This rug is hand woven and made from fine looking hand spun, hand carded and hand dyed wools. Not your typical throw rug, I would use it as a wall hanger, very hight quality construction and wools. Note the warp end fringe which has been woven into a nice lattice.

The size of this textile is approximately 38\" (including fringe) X 18 1/2\",with a Trading Post Cotton Warp of 8 and a Wool Weft of about 28 (! tight weave)- a beautifully designed and well constructed piece of NativeAmerica!CONDITION-EXCELLENT: Please see all pics! NO Bleeding of colors, NO old dry/tired/bad wool, NO holes, NO fading and NO Stains! SELVAGE: Side Selvage Warps are 100% intact/present. The End Selvage Cords are 100% intact - a twist of two 2-ply hand carded grey wools. The corners are in great condition with 4/4 corner ties present. A superbly preserved weaving and ready to display as is (clean / no odors)!

Please note the variegation lines (changes in color tone) in the grey field- this is due to the Traditional and Primitive hand carding of wools by the Navajo Weaver.
