This is an originalhand drawn comic artpen & ink -this isNOT a Xerox copy or reprint in any form, but the ORIGINAL pen& ink drawing on artboarddrawn by& signed at the bottom rightNEG COCHRAN, dated 5-24-1975.

This is a large single panel from a newspaper strip created in 1922 by James R. Williams, thiswas done over 50 years later by Neg Cochran who was Williams long time assistant. Williams passed away in 1957 and if you look at an early panel by Williams you see his affect on this panel done almost 20 years after his death, very good quality work.

At its peak, Out Our Way was carried by more than 700 papers. There is evidence (cited by comics historian Coulton Waugh in his 1947 book on the subject) thatthis stripwas clipped and saved by more people than most comics series of its time.

They often re-used the same captions, such as \"Born thirty years too soon\", \"Heroes are made, not born\" (this is one of those), \"Bull of the Woods\", \"Why mothers get gray\" &\"The Worry Wart\".

Some of the panel\'s recurring characters were gathered together as the Willet family, and they were the feature\'s stars, I think this is the entire Willet family on this panel.

This was inscribed to someone - the name was whited out (I assume) and it still says at the bottom inside the art above where it says \"HEROS ARE MADE-NOT BORN\"\"----BEST WISHES (SIGNATURE) Neg Cochran

The art\'ssizeis almost11\" wide X11\" tall (approx),on art paper that is fairly thick.

This is in great COLLECTORcondition, -- Ithas a few tack holes outside the art--it is exactly as shown ---it will displayquite beautifully and is very interesting.
