Solid Gold New York Fire Department Lieutenant Badge – 20 year active service badge . Inscribed on back “Presented to Danis Short – Officers & Members of Engine Co, 25A – September 23, 1918.” Hallmarked “NEWMAN, N.Y.” and 14K.Denis V. Short was born in 1874 in New York. He was first hired by the fire department on September 23, 1898. He was promoted to Assistant Foreman on June 17, 1906. That title was later changed to Lieutenant. He was still a Lieutenant in 1930. His wife was named May.Very impressive and rare badge in excellent condition.
