Offered here is a very cute and charming Japanese Banko ware teapot in the form of a cat. The pose is like Maniki Mekko the beckoning cat. The pot is well detailed showing the hair and eyes and enamels on top of the unglazed pottery with three birds and flowering trees. The birds appear to be sparrows. The piece has no defect, chips or cracks. Not sure how uncommon these are but I have not seem too many Banko cats. Overall the height is 8 inches high and it is 7 inches wide at the widest with the tail and spout. Please ask questions prior to offerding.
