This beautiful Loetz Papillon vase, circa 1898, stands 4-3/4 inches tall and has a maximum diameter of 5 inches. It is made of dark, almost black amethyst glass and is decorated all over with silvery iridescent oil spots. It has a polished rim and is in excellent condition with no chips or other damage or flaws.
This is an especially nice Loetz Papillon vase with great form and color. Its opalescent color varies depending on the light source and intensity. It varies from a dark blue-green to a shiny amethyst. This amethyst color is especially prevalent on one side. This variation in color can be seen in the pictures provided.
