Up for sale is a Nippon Hand Painted Covered Sugar Bowl & Spoon w/Attached Under PlateThis 3 piece set is breathtaking! Beautiful purple violets, gold gilding, raised white dots - the attention to detail on this piece is just wonderful! This set would be a wonderful addition to any collection or a great first piece. It is from Nippon, it has the maple leaf backstamp on the bottom - which dates back to 1891 and I don\'t know how long the stamp was used. (I\'ve included details below). I don\'t know how old this set is, but it\'s in wonderful condition. The purple on the violets is vibrant - you just want to grab one and hold it. The sugar bowl is attached to the under plate. The spoon looks so cute. It appears that some gold may be worn off the piece. The gold on the handle is a tad raised and the little flower in the bowl of the spoon is a beautiful deep rose color. Please look at the pictures for more details and you can see the obvious detail the artist gave to the piece. Upon inspection I see no chips, cracks or crazing to this set. Like all vintage piecesthere could be flaws or discrepancies - it\'s just part of what makes these piecesspecial. But I do try to note what I see in my descriptions and you can look atthe pictures too. Ask questions so there are no disappointments. The little bit of orange you see on the bottom of the lid has been cleaned off. This set measures approx. 4 1/2\" across the plate x 2\" at the top of the bowl x 3 1/4\" tall to top of lid. The spoon measures about 4\" long x 1\" at bowl. Please look over the pictures and ask questions before offerding/purchasing. Item is being sold in\"as found/as is\" condition.
“Maple Leaf Nippon”, dates back to 1891. Found in green, blue (shown) & magenta. Van Patten’s #52. This mark should be 1/4″ high. Reproductions were 1/2\" high\". (Myriadtradingco)
