Here for your consideration, is truly fabulous, elegant andrare, 1920s, hallmarked 925 silver/gilt, blue and white, Norwegian, guilloche enamelled, diamond sunburst patterned, size 3 thimble, with white enamelled pin top decoration, by world renowned Norwegian silversmith Aksel Holmsen.

A stunning piece ofArtDecoworkmanship, fully hallmarked with a silver gilt interior. Thissuperb silver gilt, blue and white guilloche enamelled thimble is stamped inside 925 Norway size 3, with Aksel Holmsen\'s silver hallmark.

Considering this enamelled thimble is 90 yearsold it\'s in fantasticcondition, with no chips, splits, dents, or damage and the enamelling is in superb condition, commensuratewith its 90 years of age.

Aksel Holmsen 1873-1962 ...

This stunningly attractive, sterling silver gilt, enamelled thimble was created by the celebrated Norwegian silversmith, Aksel Holmsen. The inside

carries his hallmark, which represents crossed jeweller\'s bench tools. His workshops were in operation from between 1904-1971. I believe that this thimble dates to the 1920s, Art Deco period.
Aksel Holmsen was trained by David Anderson from between 1889-1892 infiligree work. He completed his journeyman\'s piece in 1901 and continued to work for David Anderson until 1904. He then established a silver and enamel workshop at Storgaten 7 in Oslo. He was officially licensed in 1906. His smithy eventually moved to Sandefjord in 1932.His workshops were a major supplier of very high quality silver and enamel items. Aksel Holmsen\'s son joined the company in 1942 and he became its chairman in 1950 before the company finally closed in 1971.
