OLD ANTIQUE MORO PANABAS SWORD AXE WITH DAMASCUS BLADE NO KERIS KRIS DAGGER:

Being offered is a nice old antique Moro Panabas sword from the 19th century. This fighting sword measures 30\" when measured in a straight line from the tip of the blade to the end of the handle. The handle is 15 1/4\" long and of wood with nice patina. The exposed wood with nice stepped line carving and the grip section is wrapped in both plain and braided rattan bands. The blade is very nice and exhibits a nice damascus pattern. You can see that it has an inserted edge because there is a clear zone of hardened steel then layering along the edge. Above that the body of the blade shows the type of layering suggesting a pile construction of various rods. It creates a pattern in the steel. There are a couple of forging lines and a couple of patches of minor pitting. One nick along the cutting edge. A very sharp weapon. Please e-mail with any questions.
