Being offered is a nice old antique US sword done in the British style. This sword measures 37 3/4\" in total length. The handle consists of a half basket guard with an eagle with spread wings and metal scrolling around it. The guard is slotted and branched and features a slot near the pommel for a sword knot. Stepped pommel cap and decorated backstrap with floral or tree branch motif. The grip is sharkskin over wood with twisted brass wire. Some losses to the sharkskin but about 85% remaining. Nice straight blade with thick spine. It is marked on one side \"illegible H. New York\". Lovely etching to both sides of the blade showing a panolopy of arms with a Flag with US on it. There is an eagle to each side and quite a few other pieces of imagery. On one side seems to have some type of lettering or monogram in fancy script. Goes double edge with nice ridge line for last 7\" of blade. Unfortunately, no scabbard. I don\'t think this is a common US sword. Please e-mail with any questions.
