Around early 1900s - a Gaspar Duiffopruggar model violin with Gaspar da Salo label. Finely carved scroll in shape of a man\'s head and accurately double inlaid purfling. This rare violin shows no open cracks or open seams, but surely some marks due to its age in it´s old amber varnish. The table is finely grained spruce and the 1-piece back - as well as ribs and neck - is nicely flamed maple. The violin has been checked by our luthier and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new ebony pegs, an elder ebony tailpiece and ebony chinrest, a new bridge and new strings. These are new silver wound steel core strings, which have a good projection and allow quick finger action. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins, to allow a comparison of the tonality of each instrument in the videos. We would recommend higher quality strings like Pirastro Eudoxa or Gold, Warchal Brillant, Larsen etc. to enhance the full character of this violin!
Beautiful old instrument in immediate playing condition! Please listen to the sound ! Measures aprox.: total 63 cm / 24.8\", body 36,3 cm / 14.3\", vibrating chord length 33 cm / 13\", weight 544 gr / ~19 oz. For further questions please feel free to ask, or/and - as we sell a lot of different violins - we would recommend to do a bit of internet research (Google / Wikipedia etc.) about makers, models and prices.
