Here is an authentic HOPI COMANCHE KACHINA, IN EXCELLENT CONDITION - A WELL CARVED / PAINTED NATIVE AMERICAN COTTONWOOD KATSINA CARVING. A nice and collectible vintage, old & authentic Hopi Katsina Doll, made from solid Cottonwood. This Kachina was made by an expert HOPI maker - Hopituh Shimunuh.

Comanche Chief is very rarely carved kachina. It istypicallynot featured in well known resource books.

This is a fine looking Kachina, with a great workmanship, and a nice paint job, as well as expert carving. He is made from solid Cottonwood Tree Wood standing, at about 9 1/2\" tall, and 4\" wide at fists. There is some very minor wear to paint / feathers, yet he has all original accoutrements (i.e. Germantown Yarns, real human hair, leather kilt, real turquoise / red coral beads, etc.) and there is No notable damage! There are no breaks to limbs / body. This Kachina, as you can see from the pics, displays extremely well and is a handsome and collectible piece of Native America.

The body is carved from a single piece of the traditional Cottonwood - a tree that grows in washes and canyons where water is more HERE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF AN UNCOMMON COMANCHE, KOMANCHI OR KOMANTSI HOPI KACHINA, AN AUTHENTIC HOPI NATIVE CARVING. THIS KACHINA REPRESENTS, FOR THE HOPI, THE PLAINS INDIANS TO THE EAST AND MORE SPECIFICALLY THE COMANCHE TRIBAL PEOPLE. WHEN INTERACTING WITH OTHER SURROUNDING CULTURES THE HOPI SOMETIMES CARVED REPRESENTATIONS OF THE \"SPIRIT\" OF THAT GROUP SO THE CULTURE COULD PARTICIPATE IN THE KACHINA HOPI CEREMONIES AND RITUALS - THEY SPIRITUALLY ASSIMILATED THEIR NEIGHBORS. carved and painted by a master Hopi Kachina carver/maker - Hopituh Shimunuh!!!
