Up for sale is this striking andunbelievably gorgeousNative American - Navajo or Zuni Indian hair barrette or hair jewelry! The piece commands attention and is a beautiful adornment for your hair or to display with your collection. It features 26 needlepoint or teardrop shaped turquoise pieces and 1 snake eye or round piece of turquoise. All stones areset in sterling silver mounts. Please examine the ultra fine twisted silver bead rope, the original patinaand hand cut bezels. This style of hair jewelry or barrette is one of most stunning pieces madeand was worn by the ladies to adorntheirhair.
I\'m not sure if the Artisan was Navajo or Zuni. The local appraiser thinks it is Navajo because they use more silver and less stone. The Zuni use more stones and less silver. The artisan hallmark on the barrette is Old Pawn style which is 4 marks which you can see in the photos. I do not know who theartisan is but I do know thebarrette came from a trading post and waspurchased by my Mother in 1940. I took the barrette for a verbal appraisal to a local antique dealer and he dated it to Circa 30\'s with anapproximate retailvalue of $400.
