DescriptionWe just purchased a large quantity of great items from an old collection here in Connecticut. This collection has been locked away in the house and barn for over 20 years waiting for the estate to settle. We were able to find some great iron, lighting and hearth ware. All of it is in great old untouched condition. We found some very rare pieces that we just don\'t see anymore
A FANTASTIC EXAMPLE OF EARLY 18TH CENTURY AMERICAN IRON.
AN EXTREMELY RARE EARLY 18TH CENTURY AMERICAN STATIONARY WROUGHT IRON BROILER OR GRIDIRON WITH THE BEST FLAT HAMMERED DECORATED HANDLE IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION AND WONDERFUL OLD BLACK PAINTED SURFACE AND PATINA.
THE RECTANGULAR TAPERED TOP CONSISTS OF FOUR STATIONARY BARS. AN EXTREMELY FINE FLAT HAMMERED HANDLE BEING NEARLY 2\" IN WIDTH, ENDING IN A PERFECT RAT\'S TAIL HOOK.
THE FLATTENED PENNEY FRONT FEET ARE IN GREAT CONDITION WITH ONLY THE TYPICAL HEAT WEAR YOU WOULD EXPECT, THE ROLLED REAR FOOT IS ALSO NEAR PERFECT AND IS HIGHLY DECORATED
A gridiron or stationary broiler was a portable gate to lay meat or fish on for broiling, or at times could serve as a trivet.
The surface is untouched, uncleaned old quality and patina. Great tool marks throughout.
The condition is near perfect. Only the typical heat wear you would expect.
This is a very important piece of American Iron. UNUSUAL broilers are EXTREMELY RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER.
It is 20 1/2\" with the handle, the pan is 10 1/2\" wide at the top and tapers down to 7 1/2\" at the handle (a very rare feature) and it stands over 3 3/4\" tall.
The condition is near perfect and the surface is untouched. The form is the VERY BEST and there are NO repairs or restorations.
