Hello Friends!
I am pleased to be back working on my punch needle projects again and have this new offering ready to share with you! The shape of the horse in this pillow was inspired by an antique Magdalena Briner rug, but coloring and all the rest of the details were my personal work. I really, really love early rugs and like to make my needlepunch work look as much like the antique pieces as possible.
This embroidery was made with 6 strand cotton floss on the best weaver\'s cloth foundation. I gave it a gentle antiquing with walnut stain and then hand-stitched it to the brown hand dyed wool backing you see in the last few photos. A little tacked-on patch on the back gives my name and the year of creation.
The edges have been finished off with natural wool yarn and Valdani perle cotton, held in place with little primitive whip stitches. Filling is quality fiber-fill. Every single thing on this was done by hand; I personally prefer things that look old and obviously handmade.
The pillow measures about 8 inches long, 8 inches tall, and 2 inches thick. Please view all photos before offerding and send me a message through if you have any questions!
