Beautiful hand painted brass theca case 1,5 inches high and with hanging hook which contains a hair relic of St.Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes (1844-1879) French peasant girl who in the year 1858 saw apparitions of the Virgin Mary numerous times in the Grotto of Lourdes. In 1866 she entered the Convent of the Sisters of Charity of Nevers where she became Sister Marie-Bernard, she died at the age of 35 and was canonized a saint in 1933.

Golden brass case hand painted in enamel colors with patterns on front and colorful Sacred Hearts on the back case cover. The interior is under glass on a red cloth background, the relic is composed of a tiny strand of hair which belonged to the saint placed on a white backing between the 2 latin name labels which read \" Ex.Capillis - S.M.Bernardae - From the Hair of St.Marie Bernard.

The back case cover can be removed to view the red string seals and the official red wax Church seal with Bishop\'s hat and stem, all are in place and intact.

A very ornate relic piece in excellent condition with minor signs of wear and age.
