This came from a former Local Police officer\'s badge collection. 1940\'s - 1950\'s Vintage Special Officer Patrolman Calif By Sun Badges. From my understanding California being the \"Cowboy\" state that it is was for a long period has been understaffed by law enforcement. This led to a rise in Special Officers that were basically deputies operating for local law enforcement to help patrol Docks, Parks, Neighborhoods, Farms, Homesteads, and Securing other Properties as well. This was possibly the earliest form of an official Neighborhood watch that proved so valuable to Law enforcement that many local departments across California continue this to this day. This is a wonderful badge with great patina and sure to be a great addition to your collection if you collect California Badges specifically.
