A very early violin in poor condition as shown, for restoration.
Original nailed-on short neck, single piece lower rib, many patches to top and back plates with numerous cracks, repaired and unrepaired. Two 19th century repair labels, one English, one American. Some worm damage.
Violin is of an Amatisé pattern, medium archings, with inlaid purfling on the top plate and scribed purfling on the back. Perhaps an English or Milanese violin, but certainly not French or German. Definitely pre-1750 and possibly even pre-1700. The violin is in very poor condition.
