Old Antique Dagger Trench Knife Type Vintage Blade Mark A.W. Wadsworth Austria ... A very solid knife. Measures about 10\" OAL. The blade is approx 5 5/8\", has been sharpened (one side only), looks about full, has heavy tarnish and pitting. It wears the stamping for AW Wadsworth, to include the X/L/N/T Trademark. This company had an office in NYC, A. Kastor owned, c1905-1922. They imported knives, made in Germany and Austria, for sale in the U.S.. Nothing is loose. Note heavy steel \"S\" guard and steel pommel cap where the rattail tang is peened over. The wood handle has very handsome color and grain. No remarkable damage. There is a fancy, grooved, metal ferrule. I suspect this hilt was a custom addition. Very nice! The sheath appears homemade, with rawhide stitching, and is missing the keeper strap, has wear but seems sturdy and not anywhere near falling apart.
