Up for sale is an Old Antique Framed Geneva Bible Leaf, circa 1582, from Christopher Barker (Printer). I obtained this framed bible leaf collectible from an sale in the condition as shown. I\'m not a collector or appraiser, so I will describe it how it was represented to me & as best as I can! It\'s an 8 1/2\" x 6 3/8\" 1 page bible leaf that is matted & framed (20\" x 16 3/4\" ) frame. The label underneath the leaf says \"Geneva Bible Leaf, Christopher Printer, 1582\"\". There\'s a paper label/sticker in the top right corner that reads \"Geneva Bible Leaf, Printed 1582, Over 420 Years Old, Pilgrims Brought to America, Cert on Back, Gallery Value - $600\".
There is NO VISIBLE CERTIFICATION ON THE BACKSIDE. The back is covered in paper, which I haven\'t ripped off (and don\'t plan too). If anyone chooses to offer, I would do so under the assumption that there is no certification (although it\'s possible that it\'s there).
Christopher Barker was the official printer (1592 - 1599) for Queen Elizabeth, printing English Bibles during the Elizabethan era. This Bible Leaf is in English & the top part says \"The offerings and liberalite of the people\". It looks like something that would be very old - the edges & corners have small rips, tears and there is quite a bit of paper stains/darkening/discoloration.
The glass shows areas of tape or sticker residue, as does the painted (wood I think) frame.
